Editorial Review:
Product Description: Search Engine Positioning is a hybrid web marketing and technical HTML title for experienced webmasters who are responsible for improving and increasing the traffic to a company's web site. According to IMT Strategies, 'search engines create more awareness about web sites than all advertising combined including banners, newspapers, TV, and radio.' In 1999 web traffic grew by 300%, and Internet commerce is expected to grow exponentially through 2002 with worldwide sales approaching $60 billion and business-to-business sales in excess of $300 billion.
As web pages proliferate , companies must implement more aggressive search engine optimization strategies to complement advertising and marketing efforts. Search Engine Positioning provides not only the marketing insight into improving a web site, but the technical nuances of optimizing HTML to increase web traffic for higher visibility and increased sales.
The CD includes a trial version of WebPosition Gold.

Fantastic book if you want to know history of SEO and how it was done 8 years ago. 100% worthless book for practical, hands on SEO that is relevant for the changes that impacted Google, Yahoo! and MSN. Originally published in 2001 when we HAD AltaVista, Excite.com (bankrupt now) Northern Light (bankrupt then came back from the dead). Frederick is a great guy but now that he runs the show at his SEO company, iProspect.com -- a refresher book is sort of needed. Come on Fred! Time to update your antique ... Read More

It took me a couple weeks to get through this book, but I'm very glad I took the time. There is amazing detail about almost every important engine out there. If you follow the guidelines in this book, your site will see significant increases in your site rankings. You should also check out Search Engine Visibility. The combination of the two books will do amazing things for your site.

Fredrick's book is a useful resource for anyone who is new to the arena of search engine optimization. Fredrick provides a very good overview of all of the major details of getting good placement and ranking on the major directories and search engines. Unfortunately (and this is a problem with all printed resources that have a lengthy period before publication) the material gets a bit dated when looking at the most current methods to get the best rankings on the various engines. Still a worthy purchase ... Read More

As a very active online copywriter, I wanted tips on how to write web sites so that they are more likely to come up in search engine searches. Only two chapters pertained to this. The rest is tedious, tedious detail of use mainly to tedious technical people, and I learned next to nothing useful from the rest of the book that I felt would help me help my clients.

This is a must-have book for any small business that wants more customers from the Internet. Most small businesses cannot afford an expensive Internet marketing firm to come in and work their black magic to improve their search engine ranking. Mr. Marckini's book provides any small business with the knowledge base to do it themselves - and you don't have to be an expert. Marckini de-mystifies the whole positioning process. His explanations are clear, easy to understand and full of examples.
